JINPAT, as an established international manufacturer of slip rings, supports customization of over 30 types of signal-specific slip rings for telecommunications. Among all the slip ring signals, Ethernet signals are the most widely applied. This is due to their high data transfer rates, and integrating Ethernet signals into slip rings does not significantly increase costs. Additionally, the rapid development of electromechanical integration has led to the widespread adoption of Ethernet signals in slip rings, surpassing other types of digital signals.
Ethernet signals are transmitted through Ethernet cables, which are composed of multiple pairs of twisted wires. When incorporated into slip rings, they involve multiple copper rings connected to wires through twisted pairs to achieve Ethernet connectivity. In certain specialized fields where slip rings are used, specific Ethernet cables may be designated for transmitting Ethernet signals. For example, a layer of metal shielding can be added between the twisted wire pairs and the outer sheath ofthe cable. Next, we will explore how Ethernet signals are handled in slip rings used in different sectors.
Taking the integrated Ethernet signal slip rings developed by JINPAT for the monitoring industry as an example, the primary products belong to the capsule medium-sized LPC and micro-sized LPMseries, with the number of channels ranging between 18 and 24. In slip rings used for monitoring equipment, the most common integration is for Fast Ethernet(100 Mbps) signals. For convenient installation and connection, specialized standard rubber housings are often used as Ethernet connection terminals, eliminating the need for soldering an RJ45 connector or an industrial Ethernet connector. This design makes the monitoring slip rings easily recognizable, with twisted pairs and various colored power lines inserted within a white rubber housing.
In industrial applications, slip rings usually utilize Category 5 or Category 6 Ethernet cables to transmit Ethernet signals. In most cases, these cables are terminated with RJ45 male or female connectors. In certain specialized machinery, stronger industrial Ethernet cable assemblies with enhanced tensile strength might be employed. When using industrial Ethernet cable assemblies, the cable connectors at both ends of the slip ring can be RJ connectors or connectors specifically designed for industrial Ethernet. Both types of slip rings with integrated Ethernet are quite common, and JINPAT releases dozens of new models almost every month.
Moreover, in some other specialized fields, slip rings with Ethernet pathways are also connected to dedicated aviation plugs to achieve rapid and efficient plug-and-play functionality.
